Welcome

Welcome to the Quantum GIS project WIKI. Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a Geographic Information System (GIS) built for Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, Windows, *BSD, and other POSIX systems. QGIS supports vector, raster, and database formats. This site contains community contributed documentation. This wiki is read-only by default. This pretty much violates the intent of a wiki but was necessary to prevent further misuse of the site. If you want to contribute to the wiki, register and then send an email to gsherman at mrcc dot com or tim at linfiniti dot com requesting write access. Please register your wiki name in the form FirstnameLastname.

(!) Current Version The latest release of QGIS is version 0.11.0 'Metis' which was released on July 21st, 2008

Project Governance

QGIS is managed by the ProjectSteeringCommittee, a five member committee that provides technical guidance, community liason, release management, and financial/marketing activities.

QGIS Project Organigram

The work of the QGIS project management process is spread between people who each have a specific area of resposibility. To be able to contact someone about a particular aspect of Quantum GIS, we provide a Project Organigram with a list of different jobs and the e-mail addresses to use in order to contact the people responsible for the different tasks.
