/!\ Note: We are trying to improve our project management process and spread the load more evenly between people who each have a specific area of responsibility. Therefore we are looking for people who are willing to invest some time to contribute and/or to coordinate particular tasks. QGIS Project Organigram

The work of the project management process is spread between people who each have a specific area of resposibility. To be able to contact someone about a particular aspect of Quantum GIS, this Project Organigram provides a list of different jobs and the e-mail. It is managed by the ProjectSteeringCommittee, a five member committee that provides technical guidance, community liason, release management, and financial/marketing activities.

Release Management

QGIS Releases are managed by the ReleaseTeam (Release Manager and Release Assistants). Together with numerous contributors, they oversee timely, regular, stable releases of QGIS on the various supported platforms. The release team recruits and supports build managers to create packages for supported platforms and oversee the maintenance of the bug tracking system.

Technical Resources

The Technical Resources are managed by the Technical Manager and Technical Assistants. They recruit and support code maintainers and provide general oversight and guidance to the development effort.

Code Maintainers

Code Maintainers are responsible for discrete areas of the QGIS source code (core, gui, plugins, providers, tests) and ensure consistency and quality of code added into the SVN code repository.

Community Resources

The QGIS community resources are managed by the CommunityTeam (Community Manager and Assistants). With numerous contributors they keep contact to the community, take care of QGIS documentation and GUI translations, and ensure smooth running of the QGIS.org online experience including web sites, blog, mailing lists, forums etc.

QGIS Manual + Translation

The English QGIS manual (Master Document) and its translation is managed by the Community Assistant (Manual Team Lead) and supported by additional language specific teams. Information about the current documentation status and the translation process are provided at the DocumentationWritersCorner. Administration help for the Latex sources is provided by Stephan Holl, Werner Macho or Otto Dassau at the mailing list.

The QGIS Wiki Users and Conference Corner is managed by the Community Assistant (Users and Conference Corner Team Lead) and supported by numerous contributors. Information about current activities and the translation process are provided at the UsersCorner and ConferenceCorner.

QGIS Website, Blog, and Forum

QGIS Website, Blog, and Forum are managed by the Community Assistant (Website, Blog and Forum Team Lead) and supported by numerous contributors.

QGIS Press Material and its translations are managed by the Community Assistant (Press Material Team Lead) and supported by additional language specific teams. Information about current activities and the translation process are provided at the PressCentre.

Finances and Marketing

QGIS Finances and Marketing are managed by the Financial Advisor and Assistants. They report and explore avenues of revenue for the QGIS project, interface with business to secure funding for future efforts, identify areas where funding is needed, put into place actions to secure this funding, keep track of funding as managed by OSGeo, and present the PSC with financial options for any initiative requiring funding.
